This week was super legit. I just want to share a few experiences!
First, exchanges with Elder Maxwell. We made a goal to each talk to 100 new people. So 200 total in one day. We parked our car at 10:15am and didn't get back into it till 9pm. After a long day of work, we both surpassed our goal by a few with 206 total new people talked too and shared the gospel with! It was super awesome and we were so blessed as we set an ambitious goal and asked for heaven's help to achieve it! Let us not forget the importance of setting stretching goals!!
Second, the island of Lana'i is beautiful and amazing! We got to go over there for 2 days. There is one companionship on the entire island, Elder Kalani Johnson and Elder Lacorte. They had their first baptism in years. A family, a mother, and 2 children. There is not a font in the little church house they have so it was done in the ocean! Due to President Bekker's busy schedule, we were asked to go and represent him. It was such a fun and spiritual time. The next day we got to go on an exchange and it's so small we walked the entire residential area and I know it well only after a few hours! It was a special time there! We also saw tons of deer while we were there! "What do you call a deer with one eye? No eye deer!" -Sister Seiuli.
Finally, we found this super pretty place today and went fishing. We caught a fish, chased some crabs, and had a good time cruising in the beauties of God's creations!
Needless to say, it was an awesome week and I had so much fun!
Now for some more spiritual stories. We have known this guy Derek for a long time before I got here 7 months ago. His kids got baptized and after lots of struggles, he cut ties. We left the ball in his court and told him he knew how to read and pray. He knew where the church is and had our phone number. We haven't talked to him in about 3 months. On s Sunday he walked into church and told us he's read 22 chapters and is 6 days clean of smoking!!!! So much fasting and prayers for him! He asked to resume the lessons! I'm so happy and excited for him!
Also, we have been working with this part member family. The parents are reactivated and we have been working with their kids. One wants to be baptized and the other has had lots of reservations. After our lesson this week their mom sent us a screenshot of her daughter's text. "I didn't want to say it out loud, but I made my decision... I want to be baptized" it was a super awesome moment and really got the excitement going for these next few weeks and all the plans and lessons we have! The ward started to catch the fire too!!!
I know prayer and fasting will have an effect on our lives. Maybe not immediate but at the perfect time it'll come! So talk to Him, express the feelings and desires of your heart. Smile and let him guide you each day!
