We had a busy, crazy, and wonderful
week!
I was able to go on exchanges with
our Zone Leaders this week. So for the day, Elder Gram and I had a blast! It
was so much fun and we were able to get so much done! But on the way back to
exchange back the other missionaries were late. I happened to know one of the
members in the other ward that lived right by the chapel we were meeting at. We
went over to see him. He does the fire and knife dancing. So he lit em up and
performed for us in the street in front of his house! He then showed us how to
do some of the things so now we can practice and some time on the mission
hopefully we can lite up! It was soo cool to watch!! He’s so good too! Malosi
hooked it up that Night!
We had a Zone Meeting this week
where our Zone Leaders report and relay the training they received from
President, his wife, and the Assistants to the President at MLC. It was so
awesome and a very uplifting and powerful training. A message we have heard
before but you can never hear too many times. We must convert ourselves before
we can help convert others. You can only bring someone up to the level you are.
This gives me a motivation and a further reason to work harder in the little
time I get for my self-nourishment spiritually in the mornings. Not only so I
can be my best, but so I don’t limit how much I can help someone come unto
Christ. This spoke to me because I get in these phases where I think I’m doing
pretty well. I know I’m far from perfect but I’m doing well, then something
like this comes and it’s like okay let’s take it to the next step. I know as we
continue to recommit to do more, to concentrate ourselves to God even more, and
to obey the commandments even more exactly that we will continue to learn,
grow, and progress forever. We are never doing "good enough" we
always must keep striving and working to do better and to know our Savior Jesus
Christ more.
Today we went to some Lava Tubes
with one of the Locals. He took us to 3 different ones. They were so awesome. Hieroglyphics,
Ancient Hawaiian remains, and even a swimming hole that the local guy swam in
to rub it in. J
It was the coolest things ever! We got lots of pictures but some of the things
we weren’t allowed to take pictures of. It was one of those things that I will
remember forever! Such a cool thing to see and so grateful for awesome members
to take us to things like that or we would never even know they existed!
This week we had the opportunity to
study about developing your talents. This isn’t one of my favorite things
because I don’t like not being good at things. I’d rather just stick to the few
things I’m really good at than take the lots of time and effort to pick up
something new... for example music. I’m terrible at and I feel so dumb when
people here try to teach my how to play the ukulele because I’m just terrible.
But I have learned that some of our talents we don’t even know yet. On the
mission I have been able to try and experience so many new things I have never
done before, some things I’m terrible at, other things I pick up real quick and
looks like I’ve been doing it for years. Heavenly Father has blessed us with
many gifts and talents. Many we do not know or recognize. It is our job to find
and develop those talents and abilities! I know as we do this and seek help
from our Heavenly Father through prayer we will become the children he needs us
to be so he can use us to help those come to a knowledge of him. I have come to
love learning new things and try to learn something new every week! I have
found much joy doing this and have built many relationships as I ask for help
from others to learn from them. I know this is one way we can come closer to
not only family and friends, but our Father in heaven.
Love you guys!
