Elder Holland, Elder Bednar, and his wife came and spoke with our mission. All the missionaries on Oahu gathered and virtually joined in with the other islands. It was amazing to see about 155 missionaries joined in one area reverently awaiting the arrival of two apostles. As they arrived I had the opportunity to go and give a Lei to Elder Bednar. They have such a spirit that just carries with them. As I approached them, without a word exchanged, I already had another witness these are Christ’s living apostles upon the earth. These love filled men welcomed my companion, Sister Mccann (Elder Hollands granddaughter) and I. We then walked back and had a picture with them. During the meeting I was asked to conduct and holy smokes, I had never been so nervous speaking in front of a congregation. It wasn't the people in front of me, but the fact of those sitting on the stand behind me. The meeting went amazing and they even put off and were late, to the devotional they were speaking at after to spend more time with us. It was amazing.
Transfer plan was this week too. It was amazing yet again to join President, seek and receive heavenly direction regarding the moves for the transfer. Let it be known to all... transfers are a very inspired decision. Each missionary is carefully placed through the promptings of the spirit. The following 2 days were full of further inspiration and changes. It was cool to see things happen, feel impressions, say them out loud and have President say "That’s exactly what I was thinking" or "That is exactly what needs to happen." Blessed to be a part of this divine process.
For years this family in our area has been being taught. All the Children have been baptized and are active but the parents just won’t progress. We had a lesson with them yesterday evening... and everything changed! We got to talking and at the end of the lesson, I asked who she knew that is ready to take steps to Christ. She said her boyfriend so I jumped at the situation and asked about her. She said she is ready but waiting for him. She told us of one of her good friends who just got baptized. She told us who... It’s Porsche! A lady I had recently taught and baptized! She said, "If she can do it so can I!" After that connection was made the lady we were meeting with set up times to retake the lessons and work towards baptism then the temple. We told Porsche and she texted us this morning telling us "Yay! She says she'll be at church on Sunday!" Connections made, recent converts reaching out and doing missionary work... Just an AMAZING situation!
The last miracle before I wrap it up, Elder Dushku and I were planning a day and it was looking good, lots of people we were going to see, lots of finding we were going to do, and with the goal of inviting 3 people to be baptized. Well with transfers coming up lots of stuff came up, emergencies happened, and chaos ensued so our day was very limited. In the midst of the mess, I received a text from a former investigator who we haven’t been able to make contact with. He asked if we could meet up. He requested one of the only open parts of our day. We met up had a great lesson and he accepted a baptismal date. Since then he came to stake conference and has made plans to attend institute this next week! Super awesome miracle! I know that if we are doing all we can God will help us to be successful. No, we weren’t able to hit our goal of 3 invites or see the people planed, but we were able to still do what God needed us to do for that day and that was reach out to the one. Do all you can and he will help you do what you need to. "Work as though it all depends on you, and pray as though it all depends on Him"
I know this Church is true, I know Christ lives, the tomb is empty. He has called a Prophet today, Russel M Nelson, if we will follow him, we will come closer to Christ. This week I would invite each one to read and pray about the Book of Mormon whether it's your first or seven-hundredths time. God will answer! Have a good week, be happy, smile lots, and serve others! Love you all!
