What does it mean to be a friend?

This week was awesome!!! So many busy and crazy things going on with transfers but we’re settled down, and back to normal proselyting we go! We have some amazing greenies that just came in. Their first evening, we had some extra time while another elder and I drove the sisters to the hotel. So I sent Elder Dushku and the 2 new elders to go street contact a part of Honolulu. They killed it and saw so many miracles! The rising generation is so important as they continue to face more wickedness and temptation than the generations before. These valiant missionaries are continuing to move the work forward, so good to see.

This week was heartbreaking a bit with Elders Apeland and Elder Willden going home. I was with them for 2 days before they went home and that was awesome! The time came to go to the airport and watching two dear friends leave the mission wasn't fun. But it’s good to know I’ll definitely see them again! With a hope of that reunion being one of reuniting as brethren of the Lord. As long as Elder Willden doesn’t get married before I’m home we will all be good.

That departure of those two had me thinking quite a bit. Our relationships were built of service, sacrifice, and love. That combination resulted in a brotherhood that will last for eternity. Looking back to home before my mission I had many close friends. Some were based off worldly pursuits or entertainment and I have had a couple that were based on spiritual experiences, righteous living, and loving encouragement. I realized what builds a "Friend" often times in life we get involved with people who can distract us from becoming our true self. However, if our friends are built of service, sacrifice, and love we will enjoy the same laughter and memories. However the bond we will build will be much stronger. I am grateful for the relationships I have found before my mission as well as on my mission. And I am grateful for my dear friends who help me become more Christ-like.

We are teaching this Korean guy and he’s so awesome. He came to our second lesson with a notebook and listed out 12 questions he had from his Book of Mormon study from the first lesson to now. We used it as a time to teach him how to find his own answers and how to study interdependently. After a hand full of questions he says okay I can get the rest on my own. He was so excited to be able to not just read but study the Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. The only way I know this, and anyone can know this, is by a prayerful independent study of the Book of Mormon. It has absolutely changed my life and my families. I know it will for anyone who invests some time into it and truly seeks to know if it’s true. If it’s true which I testify it is... So many blessings are in-store for us. I love you all and hope you have a fabulous week with many laughs and smiles.
