Well this week was pretty good. Not
a whole lot happened. We got transfer
news on Saturday and Elder Siaosi and I are both staying. So I’m happy about
that! We also had this lady named Kristy who is a less active planned a day to
have dinner with us this coming week! Brother and Sister Kupuka'a visited her
and she wants us to teach her daughter who is about 10! We’re so excited! At
this time we were hoping to teach her boyfriend too. That’s hard because no one
here likes getting married! But then He purposed to her a couple days ago so
they are getting married! Just in time to get taught by the missionaries! (; We
haven't met them yet but looking forward to Friday to meet and teach them!!(:
Food: So we had LocoMoco this week and
it wasn't the normal stuff. So usually it's a meat (chicken, beef, or pork) on
rice covered in gravy. But Uncle Bert decided to change things up on us and the
meat was Pig innards!! Intestine, stomach, heart, liver, etc.!! I was like what
is this??? but I ate it and it wasn't bad.. but definitely wasn't my favorite! Haha
it’s about the experience! They said they might cook dog and horse next time so
we will see what happens!
Auntie Udelle made me 2 Lava Lavas. Now
Elder Siaosi and I have comp unity as we wear our skirts together. Hahah not
while proselyting but just hanging out and p days(:
The Iron Man was on Saturday and
there were so many people!! And mostly white so I fit in a little bit haha!
Those people are crazy!! The course they had was insane! There was some old
people doing it to and it made us feel bad about ourselves hahah.. But it was
cool!(:
Our service for this coming week
involves tackling and holding down these 450-600 lbs pigs so he can castrate
them. So that exciting!
Now to the meaning full stuff: So we
got invited to a dinner at the Hooks home (they cook amazing food so we were
excited) and we got there and their entire family was there. We were like oh
okay?? but we found out that they were celebrating their mothers birthday.
Their mother passed away 3 years ago and so every year on her birthday they all
get together to recognize and remember her and all she did. It was such a cool
experience. But it gave me time to reflect on my Mother and all she has done
for me, my memories of her and the amazing woman she is. Elder Siaosi and I
were invited to share a message at the end and so I talked about our parents
and grandparents and the wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and experience they all are.
About how if we would just listen, watch, and do some of the things they
counsel us to do, how much further ahead in life we would be. I know growing up
most kids have a thick head much like I had/have. Many things go in one ear and
out the other and how we truly miss out on many learning opportunities. You
look at Nephi and how he gave heed to every word his father spoke and look at
the man he was. Laman and Lemuel murmured and ignored much of was taught and
instructed by their father and look where that got them. My invitation to you
all is the same invitation I gave that night. It’s not too late. Learn from
your parents, grandparents, great grandparents... and so on. Listen, watch, and
try out what they do and see what you learn physical as well as spiritual.
Friends and Family, I know this
church is true. I know that it is by living the Doctrine of Christ that we find
a lasting and eternal Joy. That it is through our daily actions that we choose
for ourselves who we are and who we will become. It is my testimony where you
are today is not who you have to stay. Through the power of the Atonement of
Jesus Christ we have the opportunity to change. To leave behind all habits,
desires, addictions, and sin. You are never too far to turn to Christ and be healed
by His divine power. He walked this earth teaching, ministering, and
sacrificing all in everyone’s behalf except his own. He spent time in the
Garden of Gethsemane for you and for me. He shed blood for you and me. He has
felt our agony, pain, depression, struggles, guilt, and shame. He has felt our
joys, excitement, our ups, and our downs. He knows exactly how you feel. He
suffered all of this for us and only asks 1 thing of us. To use it. Family and
Friends... We must use the atonement in our lives each and every day. This
world is going downhill. In today’s society a testimony is not enough. We MUST
convert ourselves. We must Know and then live accordingly. We can do better. We
must do better. The time is now where we must gather our brothers and sisters
and bring them back to Christ. Each and every person NEEDS the atonement every
day in their lives. Read the Book of Mormon. Say your Prayers. Serve those
around you. Follow Christ’s example in all things. And Share your experiences,
testimony, conversion, and Love for the Savior Jesus Christ with all those
around you.
I love you all. Have a wonderful
week. Remember to smile and heaven is cheering you on<3
