Aloha,
Well I haven't talked to you all in
forever because I missed my pday at the MTC so I had to wait for it to come back
around!! The MTC finished out awesome!! But I want to tell you about Hawaii
because it’s more exciting!!
So I arrived on Oahu a week ago and met President and Sister Bekker. They are amazing!! We went to Tantalus. It
is a look out that overlooks Honolulu. We went there as a welcome to Hawaii and
then returned to the mission home and began our training. We had training all Monday
and Tuesday. Tuesday night we got our "Christmas Letters". The letters
to tell us what our area is and who our companion/trainer is! KOHALA, on the
BIG ISLAND!! ELDER SIAOSI is my trainer!! Kohala is a little country town in
Kona and has no stop lights and no stores just local stuff! It’s crazy!! So
different!! The people are like all local so I’m one of maybe 10 white people
here! The people are so generous and loving and give you so much of
everything!! I love it here in Kohala. The scariest part was before I opened my
Christmas letter, President gets a call about 2 hurricanes heading right for big
island and 30 mins later I found out I’ll
be flying to big island that next morning!! It was crazy but Kohala didn't get
hit bad, just lots of wind and some rain. So life's all good!! Oh and Elder
Siaosi is a Stud!!
Missionaries haven't been in Kohala
for a while so we are doing a lot of work finding out who is still there and
stuff. This week we met so many people. We have lots of appointments set for
this next week with investigators. We taught a young man by the name of Kamuela
Pellekane-Aki and he is super interested and we committed him to baptism!!! It
was such a miracle to even find him. He has been living in Hilo, on the other
side of the island, and Uncle Veloria saw him at the store and talked with him
and he was back to stay. We stopped by his house and knocked, no answer. So we
knocked again. No answer. So we felt like we needed to knock again so we did,
and no answer.. So we went and knocked on the back door. The grandpa came
and we asked for Kamu and he sent him out and it went awesome!! We had the
lesson on driveway in the rain and it was soo cool!! I can’t wait to meet with
him again this week!!
Wasn't too much going on this week because we were just visiting and contacting everyone setting up appointments and
letting the city see us and know missionaries are back! So that is all I’ll
share for this week but can’t go without a testimony... Kohalas ward members
are the definition of fellow shipping. When the missionaries left, every less
active, investigator, and member was continued to be visited by the ward. Fellow shipping hastens the work. They prepared the way for us to come back into
the city. Since being back we have seen miracle after miracle and it’s all
thanks to the ward keeping the spirit in this town. My invitation to you this
week C.P.R.. Church, Prayer, Read. If you aren’t doing these things do them. If
you are doing them, improve. And for everyone to invite someone to do these
things. It is my testimony that these 3 simple things keeps families together,
keeps your thoughts positive, and keeps your relationship with God strong. By
doing these things I can promise you will see a change in your life in all
aspects. These 3 things are not important... They are ESSENTIAL.
PS: My first time ever tracting we
went on splits! My boy Elder Pugh from Eagle Idaho and I were alone just us two,
both our first time, left on a street to tract! We got 3 new investigators, 5
lessons taught, and a bunch of contacts! What a great experience with one of my
best friends!
