Boom Bang... Not again

This week was crazy busy! The past week we have been so busy helping with transfers and other stuff that we have only been able to get away for lessons, and hadn't proselyted in our area at all. Well Tuesday comes around and we have exchanges. I'm in my area with another missionary and had no idea what we’re doing. However, it went well. We were lead to this house and the first door we knocked on we were invited in, taught a lesson, got a return appointment for this girl named Edwina and she's golden! It was so awesome! We talked to lots of people that day and had lots of miracles happen. It built my testimony that even when we don't know how to do something if we are worthy and just do our best, God will sustain and support us.

Two days later, on exchanges again, we saw the same thing happen… miracles. We got to teach two lessons. One of them was to Dell. We went over the baptismal interview questions with him and he is preparing for baptism this coming week! It's so cool to hear testimonies of people you met that didn't even know anything of religion. They then have personal experiences with the spirit and can say just as soundly as I can… that this is true.

So last week I may have mentioned the tree branch fell and knocked down the power pole outside our house… Well when they put it up, the lines hung much lower... there is a semi that comes through every other day making deliveries to Food Land Drug. Well he hit it with the top of his truck and knocked them down again.... the struggle is real! At the same time we left for a lesson and another car had just hit a power pole, broke it and it fell killing the power for all businesses around... lesson to be learned: if there is a big wooden pole in front of you with big wires....DON'T HIT THEM!!

We had an area conference broadcast for Hawaii and California. Elder Natrus spoke of 3+1...
1- Pray Everyday
2- Read Everyday (especially Book of Mormon)
3- Serve Everyday
+
1- Partake of sacrament weekly
This equation is what will keep us on the right path. What will allow us to feel peace, love, and joy.  It is what will help us return to our Father in Heaven. I know this is true.
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Enjoy everything that comes! Never forget to find joy in the moment and to smile lots!

Craziness and joys!

This week was crazy! One plus of serving in Honolulu is we get to be the drivers for the new and departing missionaries and everything they do we do! So this week was crazy with transfers and taking everyone where they need to go. My companion is a stud and were having so much fun together! We have seen so many miracles already and it's been amazing!
We met with this Korean guy named John. He has like 30 friends he's going to bring around. So all goes well we will be teaching 30 Korean people! Even if the rest don't work, John is super interested and wants to learn more.
We were laying in bed and about to shut our eyes when we heard a loud crashing noise. We go out side to see a huge branch from the tree out front fell off, landed on the telephone wires and ripped down an entire pole too. That pole fell and was caught by a fence if not our car would have been destroyed! Craziness but it all worked out and no damage was done! Thank goodness for the fence! Chain saws did go off at 4 am to fix it though...
We were able to teach this guy named Del. He has been taught twice before. During this lesson the spirit was so strong. The disappointments and struggles he was facing seemed to disappear. He bore his testimony to us and will be preparing for baptism on February 3rd! Amazing what can happen when the spirit comes into our lives!
So my trainer Elder Siaosi just went home this transfer. We dropped him off and they all made it through security. We get a call at 10:30 at night saying his ticket isn't working for some reason so we went back picked him up and dropped him off the next morning for round two. He made it home that time! I just think he missed me and wanted a few more hours together but who knows!?
Our mission is now on Facebook. You can friend me "Logan Porter" I encourage you to use social media for more than just daily activities but add positive posts that will uplift and help someone else. Every advancement in technology will help Gods work go forward.. only if we use it in that manner! Hope you all have a wonderful week with lots of smiles! If any of you have or know people who have questions about the church email me or message me on Facebook. My companion and I would love to discuss whatever it is. We have many resources to reach out to people all over the world now. I LOVE you all and I know that the the Gospel of Jesus Christ will bless everyone of our lives if we will learn of it and ask God through prayer if it is his way.
Have a great week and don't forget to SMILE.

Miracles over missiles

Well this week was a different week. With now being a Technology mission, we are now applying and using all the features approved for us to use. That being said... All our records have to be digitized so we take time every day to get that done. It's a slow long process. But once it's in it's going to be smooth!! I'll be excited when we’re using it not just preparing it to be used!
With time being spent uploading our area book our proselytizing time was really limited. However, exact obedience brings miracles and that's what we saw. We were walking down the street contacting and we hear a knock. We look around. I ask Elder Eborn... "did that car just knock at us?" The windows were tinted so we couldn't see but sure enough they opened the door and talked to us and we had an amazing talk and hope to continue the lessons! We then walked like 30 more feet and this guy was standing on the other side of the street. Following our prompting we crossed and I talked with him and he invited us to come back and teach him and his family Sunday!! It was an awesome time. So many things went into it that got us there at the right time. Divine intervention is awesome.
We also got transfer calls and I will be leaving Kaneohe to go to Honolulu. Elder Willdon is my companion and he's awesome. It'll be a good time!
We also got to watch President Thomas S Monson's funeral. It was so awesome! Such an amazing guy he was and he did so much to help everyone not only at his destinations but along the way as well. He has caused so many smiles to enter the lives of millions of people, as can we if we commit to do our best and choose every day to follow the example of Jesus Christ. To love him and share that love with others. Have a wonderful Week! Enjoy your time; share a smile with someone around you!

Ps. we got an emergency alert "Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill." Then for 38 minutes everyone around us freaking out, pedaling out, driving to who knows where... we’re on an island. Families were climbing down the sewer drains and man holes. Craziness erupted and Elder Eborn and I look at each other almost simultaneously say, “well nothing we can do” and open back up our scriptures to finish our personal study. We then getting another one telling us it was a false alarm. So yeah we are all alive!

2018 Going Great

What a crazy awesome week! We are now a technology mission! And even better than that we had a baptism this week! So many fun things going on! I am so proud of Vince, among all the things Satan threw in his way to stop his baptism, he pushed through with such a powerful conviction this is the right thing to do. I had the privilege of baptizing him. While in the changing room, he told me of his week and how thing after thing, person after person, was trying to stop him. He bore his testimony and thanked our Heavenly Father for helping him to stay strong and make it to that point. What an awesome experience it was!
Yesterday we got trained on the new apps that have opened up. Facebook is one of those apps so we are now all doing some changing to our accounts to make them approved. We will not be contacting family or friends for casual reasons so for contacting please use this email still. It will be fun to interact with others digitally. What a blessing to share the precious truths we hold so dear with many more people than we already have contact with. We encourage positive posts and comments on all of your posts too. What a wonderful way it is to lift, INSPIRE, and encourage others.
I'm so grateful for the many blessings I receive in my life each and every day. It's amazing to have so many wonderful people in my life that have been a huge reason why I am here today. I know that a mission is way more than just a "good thing to do" this is God’s work, we are sharing His message. That message is a message of peace and good will... a message that gives us the knowledge and direction to return to our Father in Heaven with our Families. Please remember if nothing else. You are loved so much by friends and family, yes. But our Father in Heaven knows, loves, and cares about you like you couldn't even imagine. I hope you all have a wonderful week! Smile lots and look for the good in the moment!
